Rotaract District 1090 Event

Wednesday night marked our first District 1090 Rotaract event. This event hosted all the Rotaract clubs in the district: Ascot, Brunel, Maidenhead, Oxford, Reading, and of course Thatcham. Some of these clubs have been open for over 10 years whereas others have opened during the pandemic, so it was interesting to hear from people with such a large range of experiences within Rotary.

It has been almost a year since the District 1090 Rotary Conference, and much has changed in our way of holding meetings and events. However, the technological advancements of online platforms have allowed us to engage with each other in a different way.

The pandemic has created many challenges for us in Rotaract over the past year. One challenge we spoke about was the stagnation of projects due to the inability to physically promote these in the ways we usually would. We came up with many different suggestions between us to combat this, sharing projects we have recently done and prospective ones we could do in the future.

A key part of Rotary is fellowship, and this event allowed us to make connections with people we had never met before. Creating networks within our communities is imperative for not only development of our respective clubs, but for personal development too.

Thanks is due to our District Rotaract representative, Hussam, for organising this meeting and giving us the chance to make these connections. We look forward to collaborating with the Rotaract clubs of 1090 in the future.
