Breast Cancer Awareness Month

What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

Every October support is shown for those affected by breast cancer, starting Friday 1st October and ending Sunday 31st October. This month also aims to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Breast Cancer UK reports that 1 in 8 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in the UK. The World Health Organisation stated that as of the end of 2020, 7.8 million people had been diagnosed with breast cancer in the last five years, making it the world’s most prevalent cancer.

How can you get involved?

During this period of time, ways in which you can show your support include donating to cancer research organisations or charities such as Pink Ribbon Foundation, Breast Cancer Now, Future Dreams, Make 2nds Count and CoppaFeel.

Wear it Pink on the 22nd of October is a day for everybody to wear pink to raise money or show of solidarity for those affected by breast cancer. What a great way to raise awareness!

Forbes reports CoppaFeel launched the Know Yourself Campaign in September, focusing on empowering people between the ages of 18 and 24 to feel comfortable checking their body. Here is some links to more information of how to check your breasts for signs and symptoms:
